Drama erupted during a funeral in Mumias, Kakamega after a man was seen trying to insert two eggs inside a coffin during  a burial ceremony.

Benson Mumia, 60, a resident of Lurambi Constituency  left the mourners in Eshikhulo village, Mumias East,  puzzled after attempting to act against Luhya customs.

One of the mourners, Jane Aseka, said the man was seen putting two eggs besides the dead body before it was  covered for burial and that is when Aseka raised an alarm that made the mourners to land on him seeking answers on the reasons why he was doing so.

“I saw him with two eggs. He placed one on the left and the other on the right side of the deceased’s head,” she said.

The angry mourners attacked the man leaving him with injuries and this created tension which brought the ceremony to a stand still leaving people with a lot of questions.

“Ever since I was born I have never seen or heard a case like this one, we are suspecting he was involved in the death of the deceased considering her demise was abrupt,” said one of the mourners.
