Lugari MP Ayub Savula had a hard time calming youths in his constituency who agitated his move to dish them handouts.
In a video going round social media on Tuesday as reported by People Daily, the two-term legislator could be seen being shut down by angry youths.
“We do not want (your) money. Do not take that money,” the irritated youths could be heard shouting.
Some told the ANC deputy party leader to address them but forget about giving them money.
One youth could be heard asking how much the MP was dishing out as one replied he was giving Kshs 100.
Savula was forced to move away from the school playground where the youths had caused the drama.
This comes following widespread concern about how the politics of handouts has derailed development in the constituency.
Savula is seeking to succeed Wycliffe Oparanya as Kakamega County governor in next year’s general elections.
